Dr. Cynthia Brown, the daughter of a Mobile, Alabama obstetrician and gynecologist, chose her own career because it offered the opportunity to care for women of all ages with a broad range of health needs.
While in residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Brown realized the satisfaction of being able to offer her patients access to the highest quality healthcare. Through her practice at Sparks & Favor, PC and Brookwood Women’s Medical Center, she continues to care for women with this confidence.
Dr. Brown is particularly interested in advanced practice areas in both obstetrics and gynecology. She enjoys the challenges faced in caring for women with high-risk pregnancies. Her patients benefit from newer technologies that shorten or avoid hospital stays including the da Vinci® “robotic” surgical approach, in-office sterilization, and other minimally-invasive procedures.
Dr. Brown’s career honors include nomination to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and recognition by her colleagues as one of Birmingham’s Best Doctors in America® continuously since 2006. In 2013, 14, and again this year, her patients have chosen her to receive Alabama Baby and Child Magazine and AL.com’s Parents’ Choice honors in the gynecologist category. She serves the greater-Birmingham community through her election to the Ethics Committee of the Jefferson County Medical Society and her support of the Center for Concern community food and clothing bank. Her leadership over many years with BUDA, the Birmingham Ultimate Disc Association, has allowed her to maintain her own fitness as well as to mentor many young people.
Dr. Brown and her husband have two teenage sons.
