This past Tuesday March 18th, Dr. Judi Favor returned to her alma mater, Judson College, to participate in celebrating the 175th anniversary of the nation’s 5th oldest women’s college. Judson was founded with the mission to prepare young women for leadership by providing them with an academic program equal to the educational opportunities available to men of that day. Since then, generations of Judson women like Dr. Favor have carried that legacy forward.
As a leader in women’s healthcare, Dr. Favor continues to give back by mentoring and encouraging younger women to make good choices for their health and for their futures. Her past service on the board of directors of the Oasis Counseling Center for Woman and Children and her current service on Judson’s board are just two examples of how Dr. Favor spends her time away from the office.
At Tuesday’s anniversary program entitled “Generation to Generation: Lighting the Path,” Dr. Favor offered the warmth and encouragement–so familiar to her patients–to the next generation of Judson women hoping to pursue science-related careers. Above, Hannah Patterson, a young pre-medical student, spends a moment chatting with Dr. Favor about what that future might hold.
All of us at Sparks and Favor are so grateful to those who have mentored us, and we all consider it a privilege to pass along that same encouragement. Good job Dr. Favor!
